Year One Really Is Free

Inc Authority includes twelve months of registered agent service at no charge with its formation packages. We looked for the fine print, an activation fee, a shortened term, a condition that unwinds the value on cancellation, and found nothing of the sort. For an Iowa company in its first year, that is a mandatory expense removed from the budget. It is a good offer and refusing it on principle would be foolish.

Year Two Is Not Printed Anywhere

We searched Inc Authority's published material in July 2026 for a single figure, the annual renewal rate for agent service. The package tiers do not list it. The frequently asked questions do not answer it. The home page does not mention it. Every signal points to a number disclosed only during checkout or on a call with a salesperson.

We are not filling that blank with a guess. Inventing a competitor's renewal would destroy the one claim this page makes, which is that published beats unpublished. The argument works on structure alone:

• A registered agent is a recurring cost for as long as the entity exists.
• The renewal rate, not the intro rate, therefore determines what you spend.
• A renewal you cannot read is a comparison you cannot complete.

Two Prices, Both Published

First year: $99. Every year after that: $99. Both figures sit on our pricing page and you can read them without entering an email address or starting a cart.

What the fee covers: an Iowa street address serving as your registered office, same business day scanning and emailing of service of process, permanent document storage in your portal, and reminders before each odd-year biennial report window. Checkout holds one item.

$99 is not the smallest figure in this market. BetterLegal prints $90. What ours is: among the lowest published annual rates for an Iowa agent, and readable in advance, which is the whole point of the paragraph above.

Iowa's Free Change Is a Backup, Not a Plan

If you take the free formation year and the renewal quote later disappoints you, Iowa makes the correction cheap. One form, 635_0119, delivered to Business Services at the Iowa Secretary of State's office, on paper or through the Fast Track Filing portal, at no cost to a limited liability company. The state's only real condition is order: name the incoming agent on the form and have that appointment in hand before you file, because the entry substitutes one agent for another and Iowa expects the position filled without interruption. Here is the honest way to use that fact, though. A free exit is insurance, not a strategy. Insurance is what you fall back on when the thing you should have done first did not happen, and the thing you should do first is ask Inc Authority for the renewal figure in writing before you order anything. If they give it to you and you like it, buy from them. If the answer only arrives at checkout, you have learned something useful about the years ahead. Iowa's zero-dollar filing means being wrong is recoverable. It does not mean the question was optional.
